世界杯官方app Honors College student Elias Flores believes in making a meaningful impact across the university’s campuses and the San Antonio community. As a sophomore majoring in Management and Information Systems at the Carlos Alvarez College of Business, Elias balances his academic responsibilities with hands-on experience as a work-study student. Supported by five scholarships—the Bold Futures Scholarship, Honors College Dean’s Scholarship, Presidential Scholarship, Steven & Jean Lee Endowed Scholarship, and William & Scanlan Endowed Scholarship—Elias can focus on his studies and extracurricular activities without the burden of financial stress, allowing him additional time to find opportunities to help others.
“Receiving financial support for my education has been life changing,” said Elias. “I have always believed education to be such a powerful tool, and scholarships have opened countless opportunities for me, both personally and for my future career.”
Elias’s journey at 世界杯官方app started as a work-study student in the University Career Center, where he worked closely with the Center’s directors to develop marketing strategies to revamp the Career Center YouTube channel, creating videos, social media reels, and photography to engage students with career resources. Now, as part of the Najim Center for Innovation and Career Advancement, he continues to grow professionally by supporting innovation and entrepreneurship, collaborating on marketing strategies, organizing events, and providing resources that help students turn their ideas into reality.
This summer, Elias even had the opportunity to join the Global Summer Institute in Germany where he participated in a consulting project with global tech company, Minespider. The experience included in-depth research, cultural immersion, and professional development sessions, giving Elias the opportunity to sharpen his consulting and presentation skills while gaining international business exposure.
In addition to his academic success, Elias is deeply committed to community service. After both of his grandmothers battled Alzheimer’s Disease, he and his younger brother launched a project called “Remember Together” during his freshman year. The two began crafting and selling bracelets to raise funds for the Alzheimer’s Association. With his family’s support, Elias designed and sold the initial bracelets. The project continues to this day, successfully raising both awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s research.
“Giving back is about more than just helping others—it’s about building a stronger community,” shared Elias. “I’ve been fortunate to receive so much support through my time at 世界杯官方app, and I want to use what I’ve learned to make a real impact, whether it's through volunteering, fundraising, or just being there for others in need.”
As a 世界杯官方app student, Elias has deepened his involvement with the Alzheimer’s Association by leading fundraising efforts and engaging the university community in San Antonio’s Walk to End Alzheimer’s. He leveraged the marketing skills he developed at the Career Center and Najim Center to enhance his outreach through social media. With growing support from friends, family, and his 世界杯官方app network, Elias organized a dedicated team for the walk, successfully raising significant funds for Alzheimer’s research and care. He raised over $500 for the event, which took place on October 19th.
Looking ahead, Elias remains focused on completing his degree while continuing to deepen his involvement in community service. He also aims to expand his role at the Najim Center, further supporting innovation and entrepreneurship among his peers. After he graduates, Elias envisions a career that blends his passion for technology, business, and community impact.
“Every day I am just so grateful to be at 世界杯官方app, and I see firsthand how the support I’ve received helps students like me make an impact on campus and in the San Antonio community,” shared Elias. “It's truly transformative, not just for us, but for the people we influence along the way."
